Meta Bright FY26 profit rises 20% as revenue grows 15%

KUALA LUMPUR: Main Market-listed diversified group Meta Bright Group Bhd’s revenue increased 14.7% YoY to RM275.4 million for the financial year ended June 30, 2026 (FY26), from RM240.0 million in FY25.

Profit before tax (PBT) rose 17.9% to RM25.9 million, while profit after tax (PAT) increased 19.6% to RM19.1 million.

PATAMI rose 30.4% to RM16.1 million, up from RM12.3 million in the previous year.

Basic earnings per share stood at 0.59 sen.

Executive director of corporate and strategic planning Derek Phang Kiew Lim said FY26 demonstrates that the group’s corporate transformation is delivering higher earnings and improved cash generation.

He said PATAMI grew at twice the pace of revenue, while net operating cash flow reached RM27.3 million despite continued capital expenditure across our operations.

“The interim dividend paid during the year represents a notable milestone for Meta Bright, marking our first dividend distribution in more than two decades.

“While we have resumed returning capital to shareholders, we remain disciplined in balancing distributions with the capital required to fund our growth initiatives.

“Our core operations performed steadily throughout FY2026, with our building materials segment maintaining a solid foundation in Sabah while our property development and hospitality divisions delivered higher revenue,” he said.

Looking ahead to FY27, Phang said the group’s energy-related business is transitioning from project-based delivery to a more integrated technical platform.

“The addition of TTOP and Bumidotearth strengthens our in-house capabilities across EPCC, electrical engineering, energy efficiency and building optimisation solutions.

“The recent RM18.2 million EPCC contract for battery energy storage systems (BESS) secured by TTOP for electrical and instrumentation works is an early validation of these capabilities and demonstrates our ability to participate in higher-value engineering projects beyond conventional solar installations.

“TTOP is also currently executing an EV bus terminal project in Johor, further demonstrating the breadth of its capabilities across electrical infrastructure and emerging mobility-related projects,” he said.

Phang said together, these capabilities position Meta Bright to address a broader range of opportunities across Malaysia’s energy and electrical infrastructure sectors.

Building materials remained the primary revenue engine, contributing RM205.6 million (approximately 75% of group revenue), supported by steady order intake from infrastructure and construction projects in Sabah.

Property development revenue increased to RM32.3 million from RM7.3 million in FY25, driven by progressive billings from Damai Suites and other ongoing projects, as well as sales of completed inventories.

Meanwhile, the hospitality division recorded revenue of RM28.8 million, supported by higher occupancy rates, food and beverage sales, and convention centre bookings.

As for energy-related business, revenue increased 41.8% to RM2.6 million, reflecting the delivery and commissioning of additional solar PV installations, energy efficiency projects, and electric vehicle charging points.

Net cash generated from operating activities increased 87.9% to RM27.3 million, compared with RM14.5 million in FY25.

Total cash and cash equivalents stood at RM30.5 million as of June 30, 2026, up from RM13.8 million a year earlier.

Total assets grew to RM595.4 million, while total equity rose 14.3% to RM347.0 million.

Total borrowings stood at RM163.1 million, compared with RM157.1 million as of June 30, 2025.

For FY26, the group distributed an interim single-tier dividend of 0.0367 sen per ordinary share, amounting to approximately RM1.0 million.

In July 2026, Meta Bright completed two strategic corporate exercises to expand its energy division.

These are: TTOP Industrial & Engineering Sdn Bhd (70% acquisition), which adds in-house EPCC, solar, and electrical engineering capabilities, enabling direct project execution.

Second, Bumidotearth Sdn Bhd (51% subscription) provides energy efficiency solutions for commercial and industrial facilities, focusing on HVAC optimisation through its Dynamic Control Drive technology and related energy management solutions.

Against the backdrop of the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP 2.0), which is projected to catalyse approximately RM9.1 billion in commercial and industrial energy efficiency investments.

Meta Bright sees growing opportunities to expand its participation in the energy efficiency sector.

The group is currently undertaking preliminary site assessments with various parties to evaluate potential projects and deployment opportunities.

Meta Bright remains focused on executing its core building materials, hospitality, and energy businesses while adopting a measured approach toward new property development investments.
